Mobile Barton 1800+ 25w??

Wow good rating, I had never even heard of them and didn't think to check with RR. I'll see if the OPN code is consistent with their product information for it. That's really great if it's what they're calling it, I'd love to play around with a mobile Barton but I'm a little too b0rk for the $77 for a 2200+ from New Egg. Thank you for your help.

Well hmph, last character in the model number says it's an mPGA package meaning it won't run on desktop. Is there any way to trick it? Cutting mobile bridges maybe?

If you look at the photos of the CPUs, they look much smaller than a typical Socket-A chip. It WOULD be a steal if they would work in standard Athlon motherboards.

Yeah I figured that out after looking closer, I thought the packaging thing was referring to the size of the core die not the entire chip itself. Oh well if it looks too good to be true it usually is I guess...

That part is definately a micro-PGA chip (for use in thin-and-light laptops). While pin compatible with Socket A, the smaller packaging makes it impossible to drop into Socket A. FYI, there's also a 16W Barton out there in uPGA (AXML1800GYS4B).
