I'm having a really hard time ocing my chip. I'm at 200 x 11 2200 mhz (3200+) 1.6 v core and I'm expeiencing random reboots. Any idea what could be causing this?

Ok so I figured maybe this chip just won't hit a high fsb. I had it as 2300 mhz 12.5 x 184 for a while but prime crashed out after like 6 hours and I was already at 1.8v and the highest vcore on my mobo is 1.825. I dropped it to about 1.725 and I'm at 2225 12.5 x 178. So far so good. I'm gona sleep in a bit and when I wake up I think everything will stilll be running. I'll probably drop the voltages somemore and settle for the mediocroe oc unless someone has some advice for me?

Edit: How come I can't use multipliers under 11 and over 12.5? THe system either won't boot or will reset to the original 600 mhz.

Also make sure the memory is getting enough juice, maybe 2.7 volts. And I hate to be my usual power-supply-Nazi self 😱 but why not a Enermax or Antec power supply here? I'd pick Antec TruePower for this if it were me... and in fact, that's what I do have, a TruePower430 for my A7N8X Deluxe.

I will raise it and report back. I am wary of overheat though. Is it possible that I just have a poor overclocker? This seems to defy the pattern on axp mobiles though...

1.6 volts is low,its lower than even stock barton voltages in the desktop line so don't expect it to do 2.2ghz at 1.6 volts unless you have great stepping.

what are your current temps that make you worry about raising the voltage?

Actually my chip fails out of prime at 1.8V at 11x200 now in under 10 minutes. What the hell is it possible that I just have a non-oc axp mobile.

if it'll run for a bit and then fail, it's most likely due to heat....

I would set your memory voltage at 2.6. Also, try "spd" for the memory timings, if you haven't already. Some memory won't run at the stated settings with certain motherboards. Other possibility is a heat issue with the cpu. What heatsink are you using?

uh jumping from 1.6 to 1.8 might have been overkill...do you have a way to monitor temps?

I look at the temps via bios and they are in the upper 40s range. As for voltage I've tried about every voltage between 1.575 and 1.8 with no avail. I've had a differnt model of Kingston HyperX that ran perfectly in my board. I've tried memory voltages at 2.6/2.7 and 2.8. 12v seems good..i've used this to oc before and these voltages have never been a problem. Would you guys recommend I get a new chip?

upper 40's load or idle? Use MBM or something to see how hot it gets under load. It's nice to see something in the high 40's to low 50's, but mid 50's isn't a huge problem. I wouldn't run at much higher than 1.8V, in fact, 1.75 is probably the sweet spot for heat vs. stability without a really good heatsink.

That could definitely be a problem. Any chance you could get a hold of a spare stick of memory just to test?

i agree try another stick and see if you can also check your steppings and set them to more relaxed ie 2.5-3-3-8
