Does anyone have any information about mobile Athlon CPUs running well/not so well on the MSI KM2M Combo-L motherboard?

According to the link you provided, the KM2M has support for 266 FSB up to XP-2600+. Given that, you should have no problem running a mobile chip. I recommend using the latest BIOS, though, to ensure compatability.

As you stated in your earlier thread, the KM2M isn't going to let you OC far since it only supports a 266 (133x2) FSB. However, since the mobile chips are unlocked, if you can change the multiplier with the board, then you can OC by just uping the multiplier and keeping the FSB at 133.

The only thing is, the KM2M doesn't support Barton-based chips, and the Mobiles are based on the Barton core (or, at least the 2400+ mobile is).

I think I've decided to get a "normal" XP 2400+, thanks for the input! :)

The KM2M Combo-L has no multiplier adjustment capability. This is straight forward auto-detect board. It does have a FSB jumper and very limited overbussing options in BIOS, but nothing else.

The mobile chip will default to a 6x multiplier without correct input from the board or BIOS. So his Mobile Athlon XP 2400+ will operate @ a whopping 800MHz without modifying either the board or the chip.
