Hmm, I think I'd go with the Pentium M for sure. People are starting to use them in desktops now; the performance of those chips is pretty awesome. Keep in mind that for most games, the video card will probably be the bottleneck on a laptop. I'm also not so sure that the Athlon 64
mobile part smokes the Pentium M in anything; too bad nobody posted links to benchmarks.
In the end, I'm saying that I'd get a Pentium M because it's the best laptop chip, hands down. It's plenty "spunky" enough to be a desktop replacement part. DTR makers like Sager, Acer, HP, etc. are using it more and more. You just can't beat it.
Note that there's a difference between the A64 mobile and the desktop part, which I believe is found in some horking-big DTRs... Those big suckers have less than an hour of battery life, though.
