Mobile 9600 with Omega Drivers

If you use the omega 4.10 drivers can you list what your settings are under display advanced. I'm just wondering what you are running and if it runs stable or not because I'm wondering about adjusting the clock speed of my core and memory. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

This is for a Radeon 9600 mobile.

Download ATITool (google) it will tell the best settings for your card.

Mine runs at 400/200 no sweat at all 🙂

I usually leave mine on default. Although, I actually had to dial them down a bit to allow EQ2 to play without overheating. . . . its cheaper than turning down the thermostat . . . .

Thanks, any thoughts on the newest catalyst?

the newest catalyst drivers work amazing. there was about a 5-7% overall increase in most of the games i benchmarked(halo, doom3, far cry). i was very impressed with that...with the fact that the drivers alone tweaked out that much more performance out of the vid card. however this was on a 9800 pro. although a friend of mine said he too noticed in the fps in a few of his games and he was a radeon 9600(he didn't mention what games and how much of an increase). i say at least give the new ati drivers a try...if they dont work you can always go back to the omega drivers.

Ok, i got the new catalyst and when I try to install it it comes back with:

INF error
Video Driver not found

Setup was unable to complete installation. Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup.

Everything checks out in Device Manager, I'm installing over the Omega drivers I already tried removing the omega driver first and installing the new catalyst.

Ok, I also tried installing the original drivers, still came up with that error. What do I do?

by default the official ATI catalyst drivers don't support the mobility radeons. You either have to run them through the mobility modder (google it) or use the Omega 4.11's

Ok, tried the mobility modder and that didn't work, this is sad, I really did hope that I could get the 4.11 catalyst. There's a 4.11 omega? I'll have to get that one, I know I am using the 4.10 beta so we'll see.

EDIT: Ok what mobility modder comes up with is this display driver is not compatatible with the display adapter installed on your system. Now i am trying the modder after removing every trace of ATI on my laptop. Am i suppose to do this or should I install a driver before hand. I can't install the 4.11 catalyst because of the error and the modder isn't fixing that error so what should i do?

Couldn't find the 4.11 omega drivers on omegadrivers.net.

Has anyone had any differences in batt life when using the Omega's or modded-Cat's? I have a T42 and take it EVERYWHERE, so gaming is second to all else but I'll be out of town for the holidays with my lappie and wouldn't mind playing some HL2 that will be arriving soon.... 😉
My concern is if the card will still be down-clocked to the previous levels when playing 2D. My ThinkPad has an optiona called "Enable Graphic Device Power Management" and it lowers the clocks in 2D/3D while on batt.

I used mobility modder myself (run drivercleaner first). They had a way to do it w/4.12, so I went w/them this time instead of Omega.

I have it overclocked so far to 380/400 or something right now, I'd have to look at home since I'm at work now.

I'm not sure, but I do not think that my problem can be fixed by running drivercleaner as I have done that already, somewhere there is a confilct with the modder not recognizing my video card.
