My 2400M arrived today.. IQYHA 0346 from NewEgg

It booted W2K at 12 x 215.5 no sweat, but failed benchies...

Now at 11.5 x 217.2 = 2497 (aaaah wtf ... 2.5ghz :) )

Still need more time on P95, but no errors for an hour so far...
I'm pumping more voltage than I like thou ...
,,, but,,, I'm beginning to think I dont need it either...

I will post my final results tomorrow.

Let us know what your voltage is at. Mine won't arrive till monday at the earliest :( I guess it gives me time to get a better heatsink or watercooler setup though.

still adjusting voltage...

still at 11.5 x 217 = 2.5ghz at ~1.82v on P95 load
(BIOS 1.875v)

P95 load is only 52C !

So, this chip provides me with 300mhz more, around same voltage as my Desktop barton 2500, and it's 8C cooler !

Still not final thou ... but I think this is close.

Noid: What does your signature mean when it says "duallie" ?

By the way, congrats on the overclock. That is impressive. I am still trying to decide on whether I should purchase one. I am low on funds, and buying a new motherboard, CPU, RAM, and cooling equipment gets hard on the pocketbook. Any suggestions on what I should get (or what I should avoid) if I were to pick up a Mobile 2400/2500 and assemble a unit?

Thanks,
ChunkyBarf

The NF7's offer Dual Channel if you want. = "dual" :p

as for buying stuff...

eval how much you want to spend on each part
by
Picking out what you want ,,, add it up...
compare to what money you have to spend
adjust from there ...

remember postage adds up... so try to buy once ...
look for free shipping... other items ride for free then.... :p

You can get multiplier more than 12.5x if you have a newer mobo or just mod the chip.

Can you explain your thought proess on how you are trying different combinations? At what point do you consider raising voltage, dropping/raising multiplier and dropping/raising fsb?

Usually you take your ram as high as it can go while keeping a low multiplier. Then you up the multiplier to see how high the CPU can go. You raise the voltage to increase the stability. It's basically up to you how high you want to take the voltage. Increased voltage usually means decreased CPU life so taking it up too high is not a good idea unless you're willing to "upgrade" often. The great thing about these mobile CPUs is that they are specified to run at 1.45V instead of a desktop standard of 1.65V. So hiking up the voltage to 1.65V with desktop cooling should not hurt the chip at all, and you should still have room after 1.65V.

A duallie system is a dual-cpu system. You can use any nForce2 motherboard you want. They are the only ones that have pci & agp locks, and are also the only ones that allow you to change the multiplier, without modifying the chip.

I testing 11 x 221.3 now ... ( 2431Mhz )

... to see I can pass the torture 'blend' test at a lower voltage.

testing BIOS 1.825 now (~1.77v)

uo7, what FSB and multiplier are you using for the mobile? Yours has the same stepping as mine and I won't be able to install it until this weekend. I'd like to get at least 11x220 out of it and anything more would be icing on the cake. Thanks!

166x14 I'm really limited right now from my memory. The highest i ever got this memory was 180 but i'm using a mismatched 256 megs stick with it so 166 is about tops till i get some good stuff. I really screwed up by not getting in on the BH-5 chip deals awhile back.

Forgot to mention. You shouldn't have any probs at all running this chip @2400 mhz

Does anyone know what the "default" or stock-speed fsb and multiplier settings are for the 2400+ mobile??

I'm going to have to do a WindowsXP reinstall and I'd rather do that at stock speed then at an untested overclocked speed, it would just be a waste to mistakenly underclock the thing though.

Mine was 800mhz default. I think it was 133x6 my mobo defaulted the voltage to 1.5 volts.

I believe it is 13.5 x 133 or 1800MHz

Can't wait, newegg's $77 2400+ and a sale for the NF7-S, $92, was enough for me to go ahead and dive in. Newegg is done processing everything, it is now up to Fedex to get it to me before Friday @ 4:30pm.
