MN people is there any good OEM computer stores in the Twin cities?

Damn first it snow today and now I can't find a decnt deal on a desktop case.

WHY THE HELL DID I LEAVE SAN DIEGO?

You might want to check out Micro Center. They had a pretty big selection of cases when I went there recently to check them out. The cases area was in disarray, with cases all over the floor and prices nowhere to be found, so I have no idea whether their prices were reasonable or not. They were doing a lot of rearranging, so hopefully they've put the cases back on proper display shelves with visible prices.

EDIT: Oh, I see. You're looking for a desktop case that's not a tower. I did see one of those at Micro Center. One. As I said, I don't know what the price was. I wonder if it was this one. Kind of pricy, but it has a 380W Antec True Power PSU. True Powers are nice. I like their thermo-regulated fans and fan-only power connectors.

I have bought a few cases @ microcenter when they were running deals.

I like that case alot But this is going to be hidden in Network closet in the basement. I was really hoping to find a cheap INWIN case.

But shipping kinda kills about any deal I find 🙁

When I lived in San Diego there were literally a hundred different shops selling OEM stuff.

There was hardly ever a time I would order anything online (cept form staple or OM/OD w/ a coupon😉) Yet the twin cities seems to really be lacking OEM stores. There are very few. Hell there may be more within 3 blocks of clairmont mesa blvd then there are in MN :Q

Hello MN people!

There's not a whole lot of selection here in the TC. General Nanosystems is probably the best, but always have the usual mid-towers and such. Nothing like desktop cases. They do usually carry some cheapo cases though. I'm not too fond of the rest of their prices though.

TranMicro is just down the block from General Nanosystems, but they too aren't the best when it comes to prices.

You might also try CompUSA, they have a small section with cases, motherboards, fans, heatsinks, etc. I normally go to the one in Roseville just north of Fairview Ave and Hwy 36.

Agreed with the CompUSA suggestion (I go to the same Roseville store). They carry a few nice cases, but not sure if they are what you are looking for. MicroCenter usually has some cheaper cases. Other than that, I dunno....but I do know that NewEgg delivers 🙂

business opportunity? 🙂

I thought of starting up a custom computer business. I built several for friends/coworkers. I had a coworker that was going to do the marketing side of things for me, and that's where the problem lies. It's very hard to convince non-techies that they should pay just a little bit more from me than say BB, etc. You can explain until your blue in the face how I use better components, etc. but most ppl always look at the bottom line. And even if you get some orders, margins in the computer biz are so small, it would be hard to make it very profitable. I honestly don't know how Dell does it. I imagine if you are an authorized AMD reseller, you could get chips for cheap, but starting out...
