I have not played any MMPORPGs up to this point. They looked too repetitive, ugly, boring, etc. Then I started reading up on Star Wars Galaxies, and I may have to change my tune. The game sounds like it will be kick-ass, and it sounds like they are fixing some of the problems that plague the typical MMPORPG, like having dynamic spawn points instead of static ones so as to prevent camping. Also, it seems that every character will have equal potential to become a Jedi, at least when they first start out. Jedi will not simply be a character class you choose. The path will apparently differ for each individual player, so no one will be able to write a strategy guide telling you exactly what steps to follow to become a Jedi.
Then there is World Of WarCraft. The game looks amazing, following the somewhat cartoony/super-deformed bent of the WarCraft series. There is the already massive storyline from the WarCraft games that they can build upon, unlike some other fantasy-themed MMPORPGs that seem about puddle-deep.
While there is little yet in the way of detail concerning actual gameplay aspects of WOW, you know Blizzard is going to take the time and do it right.
Anyone else drooling in anticipation? 😀
