Just unlocked the VK2801 "scout" tank.

Now this is fun...73km/H with a 10,5 gun....surpise BOOM 😀
And better amour than the PzIV...fun times ahead.

Only cost 56K xp too :s *L*

idk, i'm getting ammo rack'd in nearly every game and gun/gunner in half of the games. lots of fires, too. this is 1 hit from nearly anything.

That is german tanks in general. The Tiger was the worst tank I have driven when it comes to losing modules or crew members. It would lose tracks if somebody looked at it. And I had a few times one shot took out a crew member + ammo rack, engine, tracks, viewport ect. I had all but 1 module not taken out from a single shot. And one time I had an arty shell go through the top of my tank. And it took me from full health to 78 hp and killed all of my crew. I dont know how a tank moves without a crew lmao. The KT is vastly better but still seem to lose a hell of lot more modules and crew members than say my IS or T20.

How does it turn? One thing I liked about the T50 was it could turn pretty good at full speed.

Yeah, losing some modules on russian tanks is almost unheard of, though I ALWAYS lose crews (driver) and fuel tanks. (silly external fuel tanks...) Though I did get ammo racked once or twice, other times I get a lot of ammo rack damages... probably because people aim for them under the headlights. Note I never got racked on any german vehicles, just damaged ones.

Panther 1/2 and all german tanks have side ammo racks with paper thin side armor to protect them. German tanks can't brawl like russian counterparts, if something hits them on the side they're done. That combined with frontal transmissions (the part you point towards other guys hopefully) results in quite a few fires/engine damages and whatnot. The E-75 doesn't have this problem though and I don't see many issues in my E-50 either.

Oh and if you get penned by arty, just be happy your tank is still in 1 piece. Even near-misses from a T-92 takes off at least 1k from my IS-4, and I saw my team's arty 1 shot an E-75 yesterday. Think the shot penned his side.... happy times for my spotting T-50-2.

All tanks are vulnerable to module damage. Alot depends on the placement of modules and how you place/angle your tank.

For instance my IS-3 gets ammo rack damage about every other game. This is due to the front ammo spots that are vulnerable if you are slightly angled away your opponent and not head on. In contrast I rarely lost crew members in the IS-3. The IS-4 on the other hand, I'm not sure I can make it through a fight without a dead driver, but most modules stay intact, mostly b/c everyone shoots the drivers hatch.

The E-75 I lose the gun and view ports the most. The only time I get ammo damage is if i'm getting shot in the side. Since most people shoot the lower glacias of that tank though, damage to modules/crew is rare.

No matter what tank you are in, arty shots will mess you up if they hit the top of your tank. I've never lost my entire crew, but I have lost 3 at a time to a single arty shot.

Also starting at tier 5 or so, you should have a repair kit, medkit and fire extinguisher/gas on your tanks.

I rebought the E8 to grind for the T20, what can I say...I like the Pz4 I'm currently playing with a LOT more.

I think I'm a bit too aggressive for the E8. On the Pz4 I'm playing sniper which suites it rather well but the E8 can't snipe, can't go one on one with most tanks you're playing against and has no armor. As a mobile flanker my 13-75 is much better overall. Perhaps the tank just isn't for me 😛

speaking of module damages... what happens in a damaged gas tank? Do you go slower? If it gets destroyed I know you catch on fire, but simply damaged gas tank... what happens? Additional damage at the time of damage?

Also... damaged viewports. Just reduces your view range overall correct? Doesn't affect stuff already spotted... I feel like if your viewports get shot out you shouldn't be able to see anything at all while it's red.

It turns better than the Leopard..and the 10.5 gun is FUUUN.
Oneshotted a T-28 today...don't know who got most surprised...me or him *L*
Took 18% of a panther in another game...he got mad and began to chase me....dumb move *L*
Even took out a KV-1 today...from the rear...he never turned towards me...don't think he noticed me.

But it's a long haul to get it...56K xp needed to research it...from the Leopard.

Interesting, I got turned off by the leopard due to the horrible turning ability of that tank. I love the PZIII\IV due to its high rate of speed and ability to manuever. Looking at the stats on the VK2801 it is faster in turning, top speed, and is near the PXIII\IV in turret traverse. That is tempting!

I have the VK2801 and I think it turns like a truck. It's very, very fast in a straight line, but acceleration isn't great and turning isn't great. There's a reason you saw more T-50-2's than anything...before the french lights came out.

I remember when the leopard was king of the scouts back in the day. It is still a good scout tank. Just need to know how to use it properly like any other tank. The newer fast scouts with larger guns have surpassed it it seems. Put camo on it and it can be a good sneaky spotter.

I found the best way to learn was to get the clown skins. After a few weeks you'll learn all the spots on most tanks you fight and wont need them anymore.

If you are just looking to pen the tank, you can always go by the ingame cursor color (green: decent pen chance, orange: your pressing your luck, red: no a chance in hell of penning).

I like skins, even with the bad press they get. They don't help at all from a distance, and they only help a little up close, but they teach you about the tanks without having to memorize every single tank. Yeah, I'm lazy.

Look for "hitzones_redstar_conturnue" (yes with the spelling error). They are very minimal skins that show places to hit. They are not really "clown skins." If you want those, look for "korean random skins."

To see your own skins on other tanks that use custom/paid skins, you need to tweak a little more, as outlined here. I have this already built if anybody wants it. The whole package is about 7 megs uncompressed. It's just a single file renamed over and over again for every tank. It just blocks the paid skins from appearing. Also, somewhere on the forums people have posted pics of the tanks and their hit spots. So if you do not want to actually use one of the mods you can study the pics of the different tanks. Just yesterday I discovered a youtube user who posts WoT videos of various tanks and their weak spots and where to shoot them. He does a decent job of explaining the where and whys of it. The info is out there. Just have to look for it.

Just had a 2 games in a row with my T29, both came out with 1.7k xp and ~55k credits. this is better than I do with the Lowe, heh. Great gun but the extremely low speed and zero gun depression kill it for me, not my style.

I did see 80-100k games but they're rare.

i didn't notice such a high rate of destruction with my 3001h and tiger 1, both of which i enjoy and play well (credit making sweet-spot, too). early on, i quit on the dreadful 3002vk? when it led to the panther, so maybe panther 1 and 2 were gimped too harshly?

haha another pet peeve, i kept getting tossed into tier 9/10 battles with my kv (107 mounted)
so i switched over to the derp gun, and what do you know? it now keeps putting me at the very top or top 3 every game now..so frustratingggggggggggg

I've convinced my wife to take some pictures for the miss WoT NA contest. There is actually a state park within an hours drive of where I live that has a Patton, M4 Sherman, and M3 Stuart. I figure wife + 3 tanks that are in the game, should at least get me 5th place.

On another note. Anyone have any updates/rumors on 7.2? I would assume it has to be going to the test server sometime soon.

Shens. If you are not platooned you will never see a tier 10 tank in a KV.

I see KVs all the time when i'm playing my IS4 and E75. So I guess its not a long shot for them to see tier 10 tanks. Surprisingly enough I usually shoot derp KVs first in my IS4 and E75. The derp is more menancing than almost anything else, and at closer ranges, you are going to get hit, and its going to do good damage.

KV's matchmaking doesn't allow it to see tier 10s. Max is 9 and the matchmaker heavily weighs it towards 7-8.

And yes, derp KVs are the first things I shoot. Dangerous and squishy.
