Man, you are a billionaire in Eve and in WoW. Tell me your secrets!! :p

That said, I have bought/sold accounts since TBC in WoW with very few issues. I have been scammed and learned some lessons.

I am good at making money in MMO's :D
I find my niche, then lock it down to a monopoly and exploit the hell out of it

I would only do it if I had no longer felt attachment to the char. I sold a Jedi toon once for $500, I think it was in 2005, when I grew tired of Star Wars Galaxies. I wanted to sell several others later (in different games) but by then it became too much of a hassle and legal issues got more pronounced.

Instead of selling, lately I tend to gift all possessions and chars to other players.

Sure, I'd do it and, as I said, I would only do it after I had enough of the game. So there is no loyalty issue here. I cannot imagine myself doing this solely for the money. But if you have invested so much time why not get back some of it (or a lot more) when you quit? :) Heck, I'd even be willing to pay taxes.

While it may bother some folk, I think maybe it would be a good idea for an MMO to legalize the sale of in game content for real money while building and providing the platform for the trade itself then charge a commission for it. It would be another source of income and it would protect the buyer/seller.

Depends. If I played out every aspect of the game, exhausted every option, did everything there is to do, then yes I would be less loyal because I would no longer resubscribe and play.

If however my character could only achieve about 50% of the game, then yes I'd be more loyal, but slightly pissed.

I believe that the way things are right now in WoW and other MMO's, it needs to change. Some states have laws that count digital goods as property, meaning that I the owner, am allowed to with it as I wish. Which means selling it, But no state has the balls to actually challenge blizzard and valve in court and allow it's residents to sell/trade their digital goods openly.
