Hello everyone. I recently considered a gaming laptop, but the heat, price, and meh aspects denied the idea. SO, i still need a computer, and here is what i've come up with in terms of build after researching the site, FAQs, and recent posts. Let me know what you think ^_^

CASE: Raidmax Sagitta II Mid-Tower 420W Gaming Case w/ Side-Panel Window
---No extra case fans (I can add them for 5$ if you all think it?ll help?I don?t plan to Overclock, but who knows)

POWER SUPPLY: Sigma Shark SP-635W PSU ? SLI Ready

CPU: (Sckt775)Intel® Core? 2 Duo E8500 CPU @ 3.16GHz 1333FSB 6MB L2 Cache 64-bit.

COOLING: INTEL LGA775 CERTIFIED CPU FAN & HEATSINK

MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte GA-EG31M-S2 Intel G31 Chipset LGA775 FSB1333 DDR2 Mainboard

RAM: 2x2GB PC6400 DDR2/800 Dual Channel Memory ? Corsair

GPU: ATI Radeon HD 4850 PCI-E 16X 1GB Video Card
---Option to add a second (lesser) video card for ~20-50 bucks. I haven?t ever heard of combining non-matching GPUs, so I was planning on the single above card. Would two lesser cards be better? Is a high end and low end combo even possible?

MONITOR: 24" TFT Active Matrix LCD Display
--- I?m a whore for larger monitors.

HARD DRIVE: 500GB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 16MB Cache 7200RPM HDD

OPTICAL DRIVE: LG 20X DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW DRIVE DUAL LAYER

SOUND: 3D WAVE ON-BOARD 5.1 SOUND CARD

NETWORK CARD: ONBOARD 10/100 NETWORK CARD
--- Is upgrading this piece important at all for online gaming? If so?I can?just didn?t think it would make a difference.

OS: I?ll find a copy of 64 bit vista lying around my place somewhere.

TOTAL PRICE: $1,380.

Have you read the System Builder's thread? Read that & the "NOTICE - PC builders" thread and answer the questions in there before posting.

Why those particular motherboards? Both are SLI boards, which let you run two nVidia video cards in SLI mode for a performance boost. However, you've picked out an ATi 4850 video card...which won't run in SLI mode period.

Decide first if you want SLI or Crossfire (two or more video cards) in your system. In general you're better off just buying the strongest single card you can afford instead of two lesser cards.

Why the Q6600? If you're mostly gaming just go for a faster dual core (e8400) as performance will be higher. The duals also overclock better & generate less heat so your room won't warm up as much.

Are those two harddrives carried from another system? If not, just get a single WD6400AAKS for $75 instead of two smaller drives (please tell me you weren't planning raid0).

Hold off on the SoundBlaster. Just try the onboard HD audio first, you may find that you don't need a separate card and can save the money.

Liquid cooling is generally used only if you plan on extreme overclocking. The stock cooler is acceptable for a light overclock (10% or so) and there are great air coolers available for far less than most liquid cooling systems (plus fewer setup headaches & less risk).

Changed the OP to reflect the FAQ and above poster's recommendations.

How does it look? Will the 24" Monitor be too large for that card? How about the rest ^_^

Btw, im not tech savvy enough to build it myself, so im planning to use Cyberpowerpc.

I suggest you get a prebuilt desktop PC and stick your own video card in it, like the Dell XPS 420 or something.

An even better suggestion would be to make this your first computer build.

Really? Well, a premade PC is what i've always done in the past, but after doing some research this time around, it looks like the prices from Voodoo, alienware, and the advertised names are quite a bit higher than the CyberPC/like sites/do it yourself mode.

Having said that, i don't know if i have the patience or expertise to build a PC myself. It seems like gluing and stapling all those things in a case would leave me with half destroyed equipment.

Grrr. And here i was getting my hopes up =(

You can't add a 2nd lower end card, at least not to see any performance gains.

The power supply is a junk brand as far as I know. Spring for a Corsair.

That video card is going to struggle to run games at a 24" LCD's native resolution (1920x1200 I assume).

Really tho, the parts you've pulled together don't seem like a great value. I think a Dell and then you buy a good vid card might be the way to go.

Have you looked at Uberclok? Anandtech did a review on them a while back and found they were pretty good. They take midrange components and overclock them.

I am checking out the Uberclok site this morning, but the site itself doesnt seem any more or less reliable than the rest. I'll check the reviews in just a bit. 2k minimum for a rig! >.<
Does anyone have personal experience/recommendations with the site?

Another question...Lets assume i get a dell premade Core 2 Duo 8400, and at least a 550W PSU...Is there anything else i specifically must have to support an ATI 4850 card?
