mmmmmmm... freshly formatted computer.....

I just redid my machine(Win2Kpro) and you forget how fast a freshly formatted system runs. But for some reason any time I run isobuster, it bluescreens. Not like that's the end of the world but it's buggin me.

I take very great care to keep my system slim and optomize... i do biweekly defrags, i attempt to clean up the registry every few months, and still, it eventually slows down. It's not that slow, but definitely isn't as fast a fresh format... and i just don't know why that's so.

Microsoft inserts the EMB engine into their code before they compile a new OS. That way, when a system starts running really slow, they can sell the next version as being a "faster" OS. Just look at the neweset XP service pack, many report that it slows their system nearly to a halt. It's because they forgot to add the EMB so they snuck it in the service pack.

This reminds me when I had the blue screen. I turned of my PC like 200 times and I got the blue screen everytime it rebooted. P.O.S...Thank god I have a dell...WHAT, WHAT WAS THAT!?!?! *DUDE YOU'RE GETTING A*cough* DELL!?!?!?**Smoking weed in the back coughing*

I've had my Windows XP Pro install for about 5 months now and I've barely noticed any slow down. I must be special! 😱

Because it's Windows.

fresh formats are good, if I weren't so damn lazy and had backed up everything I need to, I could do a fresh format too. 🙁 🙁

It's been a few weeks past the one year mark since I installed XP Pro. I do notice a lot of crap hanging around my 'puter, and a general slowdown of sorts. I was thinking it's probably due for a format and fresh install. I just don't have the time. Maybe next year.............if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Ghost it.
Exactly. I still have a 1.8GB .GHO file of a "fresh" install of XP+base apps dating back to Oct 2002. When this puppy gets fat, I'm restoring with it...
