Friends of ours had a SE asian-themed dinner party at their place over the weekend (they split time between the states and malaysia/cambodia/etc growing up) and cracked open a couple durains for dessert. Always amusing to watch the reactions of those who've never tried one or even seen one before. 😛

Q: Fausto- You're making even less sense than usual. WTF is a durian?

A: It's a fruit. Looks like this. You eat the yellowish insides. Smells kinda bad, tastes pretty good.
 
My gf says she loves to roll around in the stuff nekkid. She's over my shoulder right now, so my vote counts as her vote 😛

Depends who you ask. Kinda like mild banana/vanilla/custard-ish flavor with a very pungent tang thrown in. You'd really have to just try it.

Can you get it at a grocery market or do you have to go to an Asian Market?

Probably only an Asian market would have it. They're pretty hard to find even here in Atlanta and they're not cheap.

 
Durian is THE BEST! Try durian ice cream = yummy. I love it!

I don't know how anyone ate that to begin with. Must have been a a double dog dare or something. (smells like shite!)

I'll try just about anything once. I actually really like it (ate two seeds worth on Sat), but my wife thinks it's vile. 😛

If you get a really big one, you can cut it up like french fries and fry them w/ your favorite seasoning.... and yeah back home we call it jackfruit too...
