Mmmmm..... chili

ohtwell

Lifer
The recipe I use:

2 pounds ground beef
One 29-ounce can tomato sauce
One 29-ounce can kidney beans (with liquid)
One 29-ounce can pinto beans (with liquid)
1 cup diced onion (1 medium onion)
1/2 cup diced green chili (2 chilies)
1/4 cup diced celery (1 stalk)
3 medium tomatoes, chopped
2 teaspoons cumin powder
3 tablespoons chili powder
1 1/2 teaspoons black pepper
2 teaspoons salt
2 cups water

1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat; drain off the fat.
2. Using a fork, crumble the cooked beef into pea-size pieces.
3. In a large pot, combine the beef plus all the remaining ingredients, and bring to a simmer over low heat. Cook, stirring every 15 minutes, for 2 to 3 hours.

Makes about 12 servings.

I also make a few grilled cheese sandwiches to finish it all off. Chili is nothing without grilled cheese. 🙂

I can smell it all throughout my apartment and it's making me really hungry. Only 1 more hour. 😀

I just made a 4 gallon bucket of chili on Saturday. I freeze the leftovers in quart bags.
My recipe is a lot like your except without celery.
I also add mushrooms, beef stock and sometimes corn and stewing beef. I use a lot more tomatoes (canned from the garden) and a bit of sugar to take the sour out of the tomatoes.
I use Great Northern White beans, pintos and kidney beans.
It's awesome.

Thanks for the chili recipe, I've been wanting to experiment with different chili recipes for a little while. I have yet to taste anything that tastes like the chili they serve at Claim Jumpers though 🙁 Black Bean Steak Chili 😀

In a bowl?

I'll let you in on a well kept Ninja secret. If you want to impress a girl, you actually should serve the spicy chili in bowls made out of diapers (clean diapers obviously). Nothing says loving like a diaper bowl full of spicy chili.

That's just uncalled for! 😛
