Mmmm, the new Ford Territory Turbo>j00 :D

Don't expect too much reaction on this board dug 😛 Personally, the Terry doesn't do much for me, I just don't like the look of it. Now if they were to insert, say, a BOSS 290, maybe I would change my tune.

lol 😉

Apparently the V8 wouldn't fit under the bonnet without major structural messing about, so they needed to use the XR6T motor.

It amuses me that it's quicker to 100kmh than the Cayenne S, which costs 129k 😀

No, an Escape looks like a Territory. Australian designed & built FTW!

Plus, last time i check the Escape doesn't have the XR6T motor...

not quite true...a few tuning shops have fitted the 5.4litre V8 in to the Territory...its more of a marketing thing, that the territory doesn't have a V8

It was tried and failed. Look at the GTO.

Oh, it was a success? They are still running ads begging people to buy them and the last one already rolled off of the line. It was AUD$10k cheaper here than it was there, and yet people still wouldn't buy it.

seems plenty of people on here have them and are very happy with them?

I don't exactly pay attention to US sales figures i have to admit tho.

Anyways, what does that have to do with this car again? Not enough bling? Engine too powerful for you to handle? Or not powerful enough maybe..stick a hemi in them thar truck FTW 😉

It's boring to look at and the base price of $31k is too high for most people. ON the other hand the Mustang is selling unbelievably quick, so it's not that the US coupe market is bad, it's more an issue with the car.

Oh noes, the styling isn't to yank tastes :Q That's odd, i don't belive it was designed or built there was it? 😉

Anyway, i assume this car would bomb there too, and the excellent reviews Australian & Kiwi sites have given it so far are lies...that will only be discovered if & when it's sold in the US..am i right?

The styling can't be that awful to your tastes since your Escape is based on the Territory, and even looks like it iirc...

People don't mind bland commuter FWD vehicles with an I4, like the Escape, but they want their sports cars to be exciting. For the most part, people don't want turbocharged daily drivers here.

I don't see why you have such issue with the tastes of the US being different than yours. It's like the fact that the US didn't like the GTO is a personal slap in the face.

EDIT: Now, if they would bring over some sedans I think that they could have some success. I'm suprised Ford and GM haven't with how well the 300 has done here.

I thought i brought up the point of different taste being the deal breaker 😉

Question, does GM sell the Adventra over there? It's a crossover based on the Commodore wagon, V8 only thesedays iirc.

I like everything but the exterior design. Beautiful interior and awesome engine, but the exterior looks like a 5 year old Escape with some Freestyle cues tossed in. Ditch the gaudy hood scoop, mount the intercooler on the front and I'd drive it.

I don't think he was implying that the Territory was built on the same platform - only that it looks like they are.

No, the GM crossover is the Equinox/Saturn Vue/Pontiac Torrent, also the Buick Rendevous. All are FWD I4 standard, with optional AWD and V6.

Just looks like an Escape on crack.

and yes I understand the Escape is based on the Territory... but I tell you one thing that seems consistent between Aus Ford, and NA Ford... both use crappy materials for the interior...

Anyway I'm just not all that impressed...

The Toyota RAV4 is just as nice, cheaper and probably has better gas mileage..

That is nonsense. They are two completely different platforms.

And what do you know about Australian Ford's interiors?
