I don't see how any food could taste good enough to warrant $30K, unless each chew was literally an orgasmic experience. And even that, that's pretty pricey.

I'd be willing to bet that over 90% of the dinner is just in the wine selection. Even if I had a billion dollars, I'd shoot myself after paying $30k for a dinner.

Organizers say the event was designed to promote Thai tourism and that most of the profits will go to two charities ? Medecins Sans Frontieres and the Chaipattana Foundation, a rural development program set up by the king of Thailand.

Your first instincts were right.
