I feel pretty studly everytime I drive this late at night. I feel like I'm in a race car.

Chest presses? I've never heard it called that before. I'm assuming it's bench press right?

lol Yeah... I haven't lifted on a regular basis in a long time. Getting back into it, and still regaining strength after getting over the flu.

How old are you? Just curious, because I'm 16, and I hadn't done regular lifting in over a year and a half and when we did a quick max in class, I got up to 125 before we ran out of time.

lol I'm 21. I couldn't care less about my max - I'm sure my max is at least 170 or 180 atm. All I care about is establishing a regular workout and keeping it going.

Well, it's not a bench press, and it's not an incline bench press. It's an actual outward chest press but with your back sitting upright.

With my new schedule, I've gone to the gym on Mondays (legs and midsection) and Tuesdays (upperbody and midsection)...I can see noticeable differences as *cliche, I'm sure* my body responds pretty well to working out. I think I'm going to add in either raquetball, swimming or some running on Thursday/Friday, plus an indoor soccer league on Sunday nights.

I miss playing sports, and now that none of my friends are remotely interested in it, I had to get off my ass and get back down to 145 or at least change it all to muscle.

did a few different moves tonight...I'm really gonna hurt in the morning.

Ahhh okay. So I guess I'm kinda on pace with the average ATOTer. My max is probably a little higher but we ran out of class time. What sucks is since I've gotten mono, now I'm gonna have to drop weightlifting and do TA.

As for being able to do these "chest presses," if you did 130 and I'm thinking of the right thing, that's freaking amazing for not having lifted regularly.

Well, having lifted on and off since I was 18, all I can really say is to be careful to not let yourself get carried away. Yes, it's exciting to be able to lift a whole lot, but IMO what is more important (looking back) is learning proper technique for lifting and establishing a workout that's both complete and manageable - so that you don't race into it and start working out so much that you eventually lose interest. I did that exact thing, and I ended up focusing so much on weight-lifting that I gained a bunch of muscle mass, and when I did "break" - lose interest in weight lifting - I just ended up with a large amount of weight gain. I'm still working on losing that excess fat.

Thanks for the compliment, btw. :) Just getting back up to my usual routine.

Today was my back/shoulders/biceps day, i got a good workout but also didn't get abs in :(
i want to take some time off but i'm still responding nicely to my routine... i really need to up my food intake though.

i should go to sleep seeing as how i'm doing leg day early tomorrow

oh, with those ab machine things, are you doing the one that kind of rock you back and forth? try doing them slow and contract your abs at the top of the rep (if you haven't already). it's nice :)

Yeah I don't ever really plan on lifting and getting too ripped or whatever, just gotta lift for a bet I'm in til I'm 18, then I'm gonna prolly keep it up for the rest of my life just to stay in decent shape for sports and whatnot.

You curl more than you pull down? Wow.

Getting back into the routine too. All dumbbells. Bench 55# 3x8, flies 20# 3x10, curls 35# 3x5, one arm rows 55# 3x6, shrugs 55# 3x10. Chest one day, back & biceps the next. Still need to get abs and legs back into it, going slow.
