should I assume they got my address from Anandtech?- in my email address only created for Anandtech mails.
Easy way to link it to Anandtech: look in your own inboxes to check if a pattern is forming?
Anand is becoming quite the spam tycoon nowadays?

I suppose it would be a small price to pay for Anandtech, huh? mmm...

I doubt that it is from Anandtech. I'm pretty sure that they dont sell their email lists. If you have ever had your profile enabled, anyone could have gotten your email, plus a lot of spammers generate email lists using popular domains. Dont go throwing around accusations without doing some legwork first.

I know that by making my email address available here on the forum, it can be viewed by anyone.
Once I receive an email that I consider spam, I just put the sender on my banned list. Then everything they send goes in the trash. 😉
You don't have your profile visible, and AnandTech doesn't sell off their list of members. It's quite possible your email provider has distributed your address with their list.
It's something that's quite common with cheap or free email service's.

Innoka, you wouldn't believe just how devious some of these spam people are. All I can say honestly is we do not distribute any of the information in our databases. I am in charge of them, and it just will not happen.

I don't want to say Anandtech are the bad guys, but the main site got hacked recently, and it took a while to cure the popups.

One server got hacked with an open script mapping from a new server that had just arrived at the NOC, yes the database is secure. Geesh.

Popups? Gimme a break 🙂 that had nothing to do with AnandTech that was the ad company, and incase you guys don't know 🙂 Most business are closed on the weekends! 🙂

SpamCop the offending spammer!

It's free if you are willing to do the work, or you can pay for them to filter it for you.. Instead of just deleting my incoming spam, I fight every single piece of them..
