mmm... Airport Express

the possiblity of having more than one, and selecting which speakers in your house you want to play music on from one computer is pretty appealing.... of course there are cheaper ways to do this. but if you like itunes then it could be for you

it reminds me of the old apple modem that used to plug in the wall.... it also looks just like the powerbrick for the ibook and powerbooks, which would make sense because it seems like its really ment for the ibook/powerbook people and i think its only designed like it is because of that(ie: airport express fits in the same place as the ibook power adapter)

Stupid design though.

Why?

I have to say I think this thing is great. I'm highly contemplating buying one. The ability to stream music over my exisiting 802.11g network to such a small device is highly appealing.

I'm ordering one this week. I have a Netgear wireless router in my bedroom. This airport express is awesome for me in alot of ways. I can put it near my roomate and put her printer on a network share instead of relying on her machine to be on and sharing the printer. Also it acts as a new broadcast point providing better signal for her laptop. I can also put it near my stereo in the living room and play my 40 gig itunes library from my laptop. Also one of the coolest things is that while I travel with my laptop, I can plug the airport express into any lan connection nearby and make my environment wireless. I take my laptop with me all the time (I need to for work), its nice to know I can make any place wireless within 20 seconds.

Network expansion or bridging is said to only work with Airport Extreme base stations. It probably won't work that way with your netgear one, but you'll still be able to use it as a print server and stream music to it.

This is one of the best implementations ever! For $130 you have the ability to:
1-turn any ethernet connection into a wireless ap
2-stream a DIGITAL (read: digital) signal
3-add a wireless usb print server
4-have it all in a tiny, highly portable, and easy to use design

it truly frees up laptops, and the digital music is awesome
