Well MMA is much closer to the combat sports in the original Olympics, Pankration. It would be more like bringing back an old sport than introducing a new one. As a big MMA fan I'm all for it.

Can't see it happening. If it did the IOC would dumb it down so much that it wouldn't be recognizable as MMA. I could imagine the participants wearing headgear; knee, elbow, and foot pads; and gloves the size of blimps.

The olympics would ruin MMA. It ruined boxing and it ruined judo.

Rules would be put in place to "make it more exciting" like in judo where you have a stand up ever 5 seconds. I love MMA would I would hate to see it in the olympics.

If you are going to do it, give it a different name.

Most of the other countries would be like "fuck that barbaric 'sport.' We're a bit more civilized than that. Stupid yanks."

It'll never be in the Olympics.

While I agree that it will never be an Olympic sport, I don't get the uncivilized bit. MMA is popular in quite a few first world countries, including the U.S., Brazil, Australia, U.K., Japan, Russia, and probably a bunch of others. I don't see the "civilized" world looking down it. And if they do look down on us, we'll just kick their ass.:sneaky:
