Mayweather is champion in 5 weight classes in boxing with a perfect 41-0 record.

MMA fighters who specialized in striking vs Mayweather in a boxing match (in same weight class). Who will win? WHY?

In a boxing match... The boxer will win pretty much every time.
Why? Because that's what he's been training that skill, at an incredibly high level for, for most of his life.

I mean, that's pretty much like saying who would win in a 1-on-1 basketball game... Kobe Bryant vs Derek Jeter?

Isn't this comparison made in EVERY MMA thread we have?

Each time I think the general consensus is Mayweather (or any pro boxer) would tool an elite MMA striker in a boxing match. They're two different sports. Boxing is only one component in a collection of very diverse styles that make up MMA. Apples and oranges.

Except the UFC guys have size on Mayweather...several times over. That's why there's always bullshit advertising like "best pound for pound fighter in the world"

what a stupid question, obviously the best boxer in the world would win a boxing match against a mediocre or decent ex-boxer

Mayweather. Part of the reason MMA strikers are so dangerous is because of the threat of going after the legs. Mayweather only has to worry about defending his head and chest... just like normal.

Obviously we would be talking same weight division. Or at least I hope that is the OPs intent. *edit* OP did state 'same weight class'.

I guess it depends on the MMA fighter... Kenny Florian sure wouldn't have a size advantage. ;)

I'm sure the OP was presuming similar weight class.

i'd put my money on the boxer for the simple reason that you're restricting what the MMA fighter can do. nothing changes for the boxer - same rules as usual. if you put a boxer in MMA, he can still box. he might lose horribly to groundwork, but he can still box. you're not limiting what he can do.

Mayweather wins if it's striking only, isn't that obvious?

If you allow grappling the MMA guy wins about as soon as he gets him on the ground.

I know you were bounced on your head a lot as a child but I am sure even you can figure this one out.
Talk about a major no brainer.

For the people who voted MMA Striker... I'm wondering specifically whom you think would beat Mayweather?

This is kind of like asking who would win in a top fuel drag race, John Force or a good rally car driver? Chances are, the guy who specializes in one single aspect will win in a competiton that focuses on that one specific aspect vs. a guy who does a little of everything.

Easy, Mayweather. Here's how it would go.

Mayweather: punch-punch-punch (point-point-point)
UFC guy: punch-kick-attempted grapple (point-point taken off-warned of imminent disqualification)
Mayweather: punch-punch (point-point)
UFC guy: attempted punch (blocked)-kick (no point-disqualified)

Fight would be over in 30 seconds, Mayweather wins by opponent's disqualification!!

Even still, I'm not sure Lesnar would be a given... I wouldn't be surprised if he couldn't get one single paw on the oh-so-quick Mayweather.

It would be hard to get something on Mayweather...he's tiny and Lesnar would be so slow in comparison. That's not to say Mayweather's punches would have much effect on Lesnar tho, unless he hits him perfectly in the chin many times, where everyone is vulnerable.

Did you see Shaq "fight" Shane Mosley?
He didn't do too bad.

This is so stupid.

Who would win in F1 racing? The top F1 racer vs a top drift racer? They're both driving right?

In a fight to the death, Mayweather dies.

In a kickboxing fight, Mayweather gets slaughtered by Jose Aldo.

In a boxing fight limited to punching, Mayweather embarasses any MMA striker in his weight class or below.

There are some HORRIBLE mma strikers out there
