I'm curious to see if an SSD makes terrain load faster in FS... I wouldn't think so, but maybe.


When I fly to California I have more realistic scenery and the hard drive light is constantly flashing. And the terrain is rendered like crap unless I refresh and it loads which takes up to a minute or two when I hit the 2 key on the number pad for refresh. So with a 1 GB/s SSD it should be faster.

I'll have to see with mine. What FS are you running?

I still have FS '04 running on the Pentium D machine upstairs... I really need to upgrade. D:
 
I think you woefully underestimate the difference between a HDD and SSD. I am willing to bet that not only do you not need 1GBps, but that the cheapest SSD you can still find for sale, put on a port limited to SATA I will be complete overkill.
