Tomorrow its Pedro vs Smoltz. Sounds awesome but knowing the Mets something bad will happen.

Right now I dont even give a damn anymore..I should still be optimistic though and pray that something clicks with this club. I do hope Pedro pitches his heart out but I have a funny feeling Smoltz will no hit the Mets...they just have no luck whatsoever now.

:frown:

this game worries me, Smoltz was rocked last time, either the mets will also hit him and will win big, or Smoltz will come back in a big way...im really afraid of that

man going back to shea 0-6, there wont be much of a homecoming...if i were the mets i would rather stay on the road at that point

As a Yankees fan I am begrudged to say that the Mets had a good offseason but it doesn't appear to be producing. If there's one thing every MLB team needed to learn from the Yanks last year, it's that the bullpen should definitely NOT be neglected by any stretch of the imagination.
I predict the Mets will make the wildcard then blow it in the playoffs, every single game, in the last 4 innings of games. Their bullpen just doesn't cut it.

METS WIN!! TIME FOR A HAPPY RECAP!! ABOUT TIME!!!

Pedro was just incredible... Smoltz was magnificent. What a fantastic duel they had.

I am so damn estastic right now... and relieved. At least they will come home on a positive note and hopefully they will destroy Andy Pettitte tomorrow.

LETS GO METS!

The Mets' big money guys came through for them. Pedro was great and Beltran shows that he can do it during the regular season too. :)
Personally, I think if Floyd stays healthy he's gonna have a monster year. He's looking real good so far.

Taped the game and just watched it all the way through. I was cursing at myself thru 7 innings but then my wife started looking at me funny as I was yelling in joy at the tv as Beltran put one over the wall on Smoltz. Floyd and Wright followed and I think the neighbors even heard me after those... great game. How about Cairo doing everything right in this one too ?

if Cairo keeps playing this well, maybe Kaz gets moved to the OF. ;)

I loved the Cairo signing and hope he starts more often. Matsui is good offensively but he is already looking kinda iffy at second. Cairo is very solid all around. Ramon Castro is a decent backup as well.

I was jumping when Beltran hit that homer. I know its just one win this season but I'm sure it feels so good when you get it off of a great pitcher like Smoltz (despite the fact that he was mowing them down) instead of some scrub.

I really hope this wakes up the Mets and they go nuts on Pettitte and Clemens.

thoze amazing Mets,and Jets.
way too often losers.

They took over for the Bums, after the went west.

The Mets have won 2 World Series in the last 36 years tho.

Better record than Red Sox. ;)

Hope the rest of the season goes better than the last 2 weeks.

man Reyes was ridiculus in that 8th inning

beats out a double play allowing the tieing run to score, steals second and then scores from second on a single up the middle! talk about speed winning a game! :)

I think the Mets can be a dangerous team. DWright is the real deal.... let's just hope Willie moves him up in the batting order as Piazza and Floyd have their annual slumps/injuries...

Anyone listen to Mike and the Mad Dog ? Francessa thinks Reyes is overrated cause he hasn't shown anything that people have been promising. And injuries don't mean anything - they certainly don't make someone overrated. I don't know what else he needs to show on the field. The guy's skills are sick.

Who cares what Fatso and Fruit Loops has to say? I am sick of Fatso's arrogance and I wish he would just shut up and go rot at a horse race track or something.

Reyes has shown plenty of what he is capable of. Reyes can run like hell, can steal bases, has shown good hitting with some power, has a fantastic arm. The only criticism I see with him is that he needs to be a little more disciplined at the plate and learn how to take a walk.

I think Reyes needs one full healthy year before some of his critics will shut up..except for Fatcessa who is just an arrogant fool.

Seeing Reyes and Matsui..etc run those bases with double steals, drag bunts..etc..is a great thing. I love "small ball" baseball and I hope I see more of it.

what amazed me more about that play was that he didn't even need to adjust his grip for the throw. Unreal... especially with all that english on the ball to have caused the bounce in the first place.

yesterday's game already shows what a different team this is.

Piazza finally threw out a runner by like 4 steps

k.matsui really dug deep yesterday, after striking out 2x. he got 2 crucial hits w/ 2 RBIs

Floyd is hitting leftys again

that double steal turned into 2 runs.

Reyes, broke up DP, stole second and scored.

Doug's sac bunt turned into 2 runs.

tommy G finally got some run support.

bullpen needs work. need better RPs after the 6th or 7th inning. stop walking guys, had glavine not walked the batter w/ 2 outs in the first, he would have got a "W."

next game: clemens vs Ishii, Mets have smacked Clemens b4, esp Piazza. w/ 3 Switch hitters and 2 (maybe 3 if they play Valent) lefty batters. it'll be a tough to count the mets out.

i doubt Glavine will feel that way as he got another no decision out of a decent performance.

Heilman pitching 8 shutout innings (1-hitter) right now, up 4-0 against the fish... who's with me ? Can we say 5-in-a-row ?!

Well I'll be damned... Aaron Heilman who has been labeled a BUST has pitched a complete game 1-hitter. Fantastic job by Heilman..that did not look like the Heilman of old at all..that looked liked a totally different pitcher. Congrats to Heilman!

The NEW New York Mets are now even at 5-5 after a disasterous 0-5 start....and tomorrow its Pedro vs. Leiter!

LETS GO METS BABY!!

Mets win their sixth game in a row and are now 1 game above .500 (6-5)!!!!!

Pedro pitched a fine game giving up only 2 runs in 7 innings and those 2 runs scored due to Piazza's trouble catching Pedro's breaking balls and they both had many conversations on the mound as well.

Mets showed some more 8th inning magic to score 2 runs and lead 3-2 and then Braden Pooper Scooper blew the save (he stinks) and the Marlins tied the game at 3.

Then with 2 outs Victor Diaz hits a double and then Piazza's backup, Ramon Castro, gets the game winning single.

Tomorrow they go for a sweep of the Marlins!!

LETS GO METS!
