There is little room for replay in baseball and even if they start using it to track HRs then fans will start demanding it be used to determine whether runners are safe or not. That can't happen because it will ruin the sport.
I've seen much more tangential / stupid posts on Anandtech.
What are you talking about? They have replay in the NFL and it's for certain things only. It is very clearly laid out, you can review this and this, but not this. The same thing will happen here. It's not as if every single play is going to be reviewable.
Also, this is not the freaking 70s or 80s here where you would read about the games the next morning in the paper. Every single play is dissected by the media and fans pretty much instantly, all over the world, with video replay at everyone's fingertips, so for these very easy calls to be missed by the professionals is just a black eye on the sport and implementing replay to help eliminate these blown calls is a good thing.
Could it go too far? Sure. Will it? No, the owners, commissioner, players, and everyone else would not let that happen just like in other sports with instant replay.
