Mixing Timings

I currently have 2 gbs of patriot extreme performance ddr2 800. I just ordered 2 more gbs of the same ram but after further inspection of my order i saw that the ram i ordered was not exactly the same. I have the 4-4-4-12 2.2v version now but i just ordered the 5-5-5-12 2.0v version. Will combining these sticks work? and how will it effect overclocking?

btw mobo is ds3 in sig

Should be okay, but unless you get lucky, you'll probably have to run all the RAM @ 5-5-5-12, & hopefully you can find a happy medium for the vdimm level since the two are rated for different levels.

Of course, to add to the fun, you'll be running 4 dimms, which may or may not work well while overclocking your mobo.

Be prepared to bump up vNB & vDimm to maintain your OC...(not necessarily going to be required, but very possible).

Sounds like different performance profiles? The CL4 2.2v might be able to run at 2.0v CL5, and the CL5 2.0v might be able to run at 2.2v CL4
