Hi,

I'm new to the DIY scene and I had a couple of questions about mixing SATA and PATA hard drives.

My Setup...
ASUS P4P800 Deluxe
Primary SATA HD: WD 36GB Raptor
Secondary SATA HD: Seagate 120GB

Basically, I have a spare PATA Seagate 80GB that I would like to hook up and I had a few questions concerning this. Windows resides on the Primary SATA drive and is the first of my hard drives to boot up.

1. Do I hook up the PATA Seagate to the Primary IDE slot? I'm pretty sure I do but I would like confirmation?

2. How should I configure the PATA Seagate's jumper settings? Master? Slave?

3. Are there any particular BIOS settings that I need to change for it to work properly?

Thanks in advance!

how does pata and sata usually coexist? i.e. say your mobo supports standard primary/secondary IDE channels (4 devices total) and primary/secondary SATA controllers (2 device capacity). Can you put 6 atapi/ide drives into that system?
