Mixing Ram

Soon I will be buying some

CORSAIR VALUE SELECT DUAL CHANNEL 512MB KIT PC3200 DDR CAS2.5 2X256MB MEMORY

Would I be able to use those two sticks along with some PC2100 DDR Ram? What about overclocking? Would it work?

This is the mobo I'll have :
ASUS K8N ATHLON64 S754 NFORCE3 250 DDR AGP 5PCI SATA SOUND LAN MOTHERBOARD

I'm not certain for sure but I'll give you a quick reply from what I've heard.

Basically in order to get dual channel you need the same rated(speed) sticks of ram. In order to get dual channel with 3 dimms full then this is what needs to be done. Lets say you get the 2 256's, dimm 1 and 2 add up to 512... this means in dimm 3 you will want a pc 3200 stick of 512ddr ram (not sure if CAS is important). Then you run dual channel of 3 sticks of ram. Also another thing you need to know is that if you mix ram your timing of rams are underclocked to what the slowest ram you have in the system is. (I am not certain though).

Dual channel is good but it's doesn't necessarily make a huge impact on athlon 64's.

If you mix them, the PC3200 will be limited to the PC2100's speed. I'm not sure you can even do that though.
