When putting together ram, you can't mix speeds, ie pc2700 and pc3200.?. T/F

Is it backward compatiable, ie will pc 3200 run @ pc 2700 speeds?

Also if I have dual bank 256, then buy a 512 one stick (later to add one more when $$$ aviliable), Am I better running single 512, or all three sticks.

Im buying memory for my MB and need a game plan.

Yes 3200 will run at 2700.
Don't know what your using it for (assuming not dual channel board) but I would say there isn't going to be much of a general difference in performance after 512.
So if your considering running the one 512 why not just keep the 2X256

Welcome to the wrong forum.

memory is backwards compatible, but not upwards compatible. a pc3200 ddr could do these and lower. pc3200>pc2700>pc2100>pc1600, a pc2700 could do pc2700>pc2100?pc1600. you get the idea, memory is backwards comaptible, but for going up, that is overclocking and it is the lcuk of the draw.
