Mixing Phoneline Adapters

I have 3Com 10 MBS phoneline adapters for my home network. However an older computer, which I would like to add, does not support PCI 2.1 nor USB (as far as I can tell). I am considering using an Adaptec Parallel Port 1 MB phoneline adapter for it. Will it be able to communicate with the 3Com phoneline adapters, albeit more slowly, even though they are different brands?
 
It depends if both are compliant with the home pna version 1.0 standard. The 3com is compliant, but i'm not sure about the adaptec parallel port. I guess if you have all the parts, just try and see. 😉
