I am building a budget performance system from parts I have cobbled together. I just bought a new 512mb stick of Buffalo Firestix PC6400 cl5 ram for $30 on EBay. I would like to buy another similar stick, but there is nothing else like it I have been able to find that is comparable in price.

MemoryPro is selling new Samsung PC5300 cl4 512mb ram chips on Ebay for $41. Would these two ram sticks be compatible? I know they will run at the lower speed, but I was hoping to run these in Dual Channel mode at least at 1333FSB. Is this a reasonable idea? Has anybody else mixed ram speeds like this and had it work well?

I plan to buy the Gigabite 965 s3 mb to go with the E6300 I currently have, along with a X800xl I got for $60 on Ebay.

Do you think this Samsung PC5300 ram is really cl4 at MemoryPro or is it a misprint? These budget chips are usually cl5 aren't they??

Another option is to wait for another Firestix PC6400 to come up on Ebay, or perhaps re-sell it and buy two matching Samsung PC5300 chips??

I may also sell my E6300 and replace it with a E4300 or E4400 in a couple of months, then the FSB is not as important with these new cpu's.

Any advice would be welcome... Smile
