mixing memory?

ooops!

i meant to say: i just bought a new motherboard and 256 megs 133 ram and i have 128 megs of 100 ram from my old system and i was wondering if i can use both, as long as the board supports it?

thanks for any info!

Depends....What Mobo and proc are you going to be using? If you are going to be using a proc with a 133FSB(eg:c-core Athlon/various PIII's), then no. If you are going to be using a proc with a 100FSB(eg: Duron/celeron) then yes as long as memory speed is set at 100mhz.

hey gonzo- thanks for your reply! i have a duron 800 on a k7sem mobo. the manual says i can use 100 or 133 but it doesn't say anything about mixing the two. will it hurt anything if i try?

i love to upgrade but this memory is just sitting there staring at me! plus it's free and i can put it in NOW 🙂
😀

most definately give it a try...What have you got to lose? Like I said, as long as the mem bus is set to 100 mhz, all should be good. On my wifes' OC-ed Celeron system, I am running 1 stick of 128mb PC 100 and 1 stick of Micron PC133. If it don't work...Well, then lay out a whopping $18 for another PC133 stick..🙂 Really, the only memory that you can't mix is VC133 and PC133.
