I'm writing this for people that will use the search feature to look up information about this issue.

I was unsuccessful at mixing different types of RAM (ECC and non-ECC) together.

Original stick of RAM: Crucial PC2100 256MB 32x72 DDR REG ECC
New stick of RAM: SimpleTech PC2100 256MB 32x64 DDR (non-ECC)

The system emits two long beeps on power-on and will not continue or display anything. And Yes, the SDRAM Error-check setting in the BIOS was on "Disable."

reg and non reg = no
ecc and non ecc = yes (disable ecc in bios, or if the motherboard chipset doesn't support ecc, it doesn't care.)
