Mixing DDR Ram...

I am sitting at 1Gb ram right now and it may need a boost due to gaming. I have two sticks of 512MB ram but was considering buying a 1Gb stick to replace one of the 512s. Can DDR ram be mixed like this?

I had read DDR can have issues playing with other DDR chips but am not at all versed in RAM. Do they need to be the same speed?

I believe you can do this. But take not that your RAM will only run as fast as the slowest RAM so be careful in your selection.

My mobo manual is here: http://www.paulduncan.org/files/a7a266-104.pdf and on page 8 it says PC2100/PC1600 DDR support. Does that mean I can't install two chips of 1GB DDR PC3200 400MHz DIMM Memory?

You can install that ram, but it will run at PC2100 speeds, not PC3200.
