I have a Prestonia Socket 604 Xeon and a Tyan that will take 2 Xeon's. I'm thinking about buying a second Xeon ... given that the price has finally come down to $20.
The detailed spec for the CPU I already have ( from CPUz - the CPU has a heat sink on it, so I can't see the "SL***" number ) -
Family F
Model 2
Stepping 7
Rev. C1
Voltage - 1.456
( The voltage fluctuates, sometimes it reads 1.440. )
I think it's an SL6GD, sort of by process of elimination from looking at the Chiplist web page.

The one I'm thinking about combining it with -

"Model SL6VL"
... and I find that the SL6VL is a 1.50 Volt D1 stepping.
THE QUESTION -
* is it bad methodology to use a C1 stepping Xeon and a D1 stepping Xeon on the same motherboard, for this generation of processors (socket 604)?
