Mixing and matching cables

Are most cables universal meaning can a old cable be used on a new power supply
Is there a limit to how much juice a cable can support Meaning could a power cable not be strong enough for a certain level of power supply ?
Thanks
Ric

Except for the styling and number of pins, all PSU cables are generally universal. Yes, cables have limitations on the amount of current it can carry. As long as you do not connect a significant number of devices to a cable, it will normally carry load within its capacity.

I'm pretty sure he means the AC or external cable, Jiggz. And yes, the larger diameter the cable, the larger diameter wires it contains, so the more current it can safely/reliably supply.

...though this won't matter unless you try to run a hairdryer off the USB port.
