Is there any problem(s) with mixing ADA33 & 100 drives? I want to upgrade to an ASUS CUSL2 or ABIT SA6R to get ADA100 support, however, I wanna be sure that I can still boot up with my old 33 drive that I want to keep intact and use the high speed 100 drive to handle all my video and music production stuff.
Anybody doing this and/or know if it's okay to do this way?
As always, thanks in advance!

I'm not absolutely certain about this, so don't carve it into a rock!

Relative to mixing ATA33 & ATA100 drives; if both drives (one as master and the other as slave) are on the same port, either PRIMARY or SECONDARY, then that port will default to the lower ATA category - in your case ATA33.

What if you put an ATA100 on the PRIMARY, and an ATA33 on the SECONDARY, will each drive operate independently at it's own ATA rating? I believe the answer is yes (might depend on mobo and/or chipset?) based on my A7V133 setup. My HDD is ATA100 as master on the primary, and my DVD is ATA33 as master on the secondary. BIOS (AUTO detect) and POST indicates each drive is operating at it's individual ATA value.

Concerning putting your existing LOADED HDD into a new mobo as the C drive, popular opinion is that this is not the best of ideas. Far better to FDISK and FORMAT first, then install in new mobo and reload fresh.
