Well, I was wondering if this was smart or not? I mixed some normal epoxy with ASII to stick my new HS/Fan on my vid card. I let it set for about 2 hours and seems to work fine. Will this give me results close to using plain ole AS epoxy? Thanks

Mixing different types of thermal compounds seems counterproductive. The mixture would have an uneven composure, which would limit its ability to fill in the microscopic gaps on the surfaces of the heatsink and microchip.

I think it probably isn't as good since now you have the epoxy, the silicon grease and the silver in the mixture. Probably not enough silver per other material to reproduce AS Thermal Epoxy. Might work well enough for a vid card, but probably not the way I would of gone. Somewhere along the line, I decided that buying high quality thermal compounds removed my doubts as to whether it could go faster or not. It was worth the few extra bucks.

It should be OK as long as you didn't used too much ASII. I've found that using 1/3 of the thermal compound and 2/3 of a 2-part epoxy forms a good bond. The silicone fluid in the ASII will polymerize with the epoxy to form a strong bond between the HS and the chip. You will have less silver per volume, but you should be in good shape. :D
