Romney's campaign giving $5,000 to relief efforts is a bad thing somehow?

It is when the primary motivation was never to donate the stuff in the first place - just like Ryan's photo op washing clean dishes, this is nothing but a fucking pony show.

If Romney really cared, he would have written a $5k check to the Red Cross or Salvation Army.

Romney did write a check to the RC. We don't know how much though.

You mean like the photo op of asshole Obama looking at storm damage? As if he has to see it with his own eyes to do his job.

What damn hypocrites you clowns are.

Oh fuck you - when you are the fucking President of the United States, this is what you do, regardless if it's in the midst of a campaign or not.

One guy is actually the president - you know him right - the leader of our nation? When something fucks up on his watch, you're damn right he needs to be in the mix. Mitt Romney, he's fucking nothing at the moment. His photo op isn't helping the people who really need it - it was a complete waste of time.

He's there by invitation of Gov Christie, who desperately needs federal help, and is getting it-

It's still not the way he should have handled this situation. Hell - he would have done more by standing on the stage and saying that his campaign is writing a check to the Red Cross and that he would encourage everyone at the rally to donate a small sum on the spot. Hell - he could have even pledged to donate all campaign contributions taken at the rally to the Red Cross.

Anything other than buying some cans of peas so that he could look nice standing in front of them - it's blatant and pathetic showmanship.

Like Charles said campaigns do this sort of stuff all the time. On a scale of 1 to 10 this is about 0.5.

If anything deserves scorn it's Biden and Ryan for being such stingy bastards.

1) Mostly staged using goods already donated

2) Mostly staged using goods already donated (to reiterate)

3) Red Cross doesn't want goods, but money

Not only was this a dog and pony show, but it was a botched dog and pony show. At least if Romney gave a check amid cameras, it'd have done some good....

Just like everything else....

He paid taxes but won't tell us how much.

He wants to cut loopholes but won't tell us which ones.

He wants to cut deductions but won't tell which ones.

He wants to cut the deficit but won't name what programs or how much they will be cut (other than raising military spending).

Just another day for Romney and par for the course.

As to the OP, I guess it's good that he "donated" these things but pretty sad that he and his campaign tried to make something out of the Sandy devastation. Of course, I'm sure Obama is playing it up as much as possible without coming out and saying so.

You mean like all those asshole presidents, Bush @ground zero after 9/11?

Most people appreciated that. No complaints from Dems.

It was a fucking photo op that cost millions and delayed work. He's your guy so it's cool for you. Again, you're a hypocrite.

You would think a guy worth over 250mil could cough up 50K for the Red Cross.

Since hes given about 7 million over the last couple years to charity, mostly through cash- not the way to go if it's for write offs- chances are hes given more than that. Romney can be faulted for a great many things, but this isn't one. That 5k is twice what Biden or Ryan gave. Obama gave a high percentage too. The VP choices should be ashamed, as well as their partisan supporters.

It's what presidents do. They comfort people and tour the area so they have a first hand knowledge of how bad it is.

What a fucking apologist you are! Have you ever criticized Romney?
