I'm putting a new motherboard in, and in addition to the FDD cable and normal power supply to the FDD there is a round black cable with a small flat connector which has four terminals; +5V, Data -, Data +, Grnd. You can see a picture of it here:

I seem to have lost the instructions which came with this thing and don't know where it should be connected on the motherboard. Thoughts on this?

That cable connects to the USB pins on your motherboard. The other connector goes to the floppy connection using a ribbon cable.

Thanks for the clarification. I will use half of the USB port on the MB and connect according to the pin designations give in the MB manual.

Oh wow, what an old thread :O -- I don't even know where I put that drive. What do you need help with -- all the manuals seems to be on mitsumi's ftp that requires a ID/PW
