Mitsumi 7-in-one

Okay, so I have this new Mitsumi 7 in one drive which besides being a regular floppy drive, acts as a USB 2.0 multi card reader as well.

I am loathe to buy any sort of floppy drive, but I ended up making the compromise because I needed a floppy drive for the RAID setup I implemented.

Problem is, the **** USB drive isnt working - not being detected by XP (It has an internal USB connection, which attaches itself to a USB header on the mobo). I have the drivers installed, tried switching cables etc. - no luck so far. My assumptions were that the reader part of the drive would be detected when I inserted digital media, that hasn't happened.

Any suggestions?

What motherboard do you have? Is the USB plug on the Mitsumi a solid block, or individual pluglets that you can rearrange for different mobo pinouts? Does it have a pinout diagram anywhere on the drive or documentation?

hi,
i've been using the mitsumi 7-in-1 drives pretty often lately for my builds. they come with a block connector with the usual

connector order. all of the ones that i've installed have worked perfectly. do as mechbgon says and be sure that you have plugged it correctly into the motherboard header. if the pins are correctly plugged and the drivers are correcly installed, you may have a bad unit (or maybe the mb header is bad but this is less likely)
good luck.
