Handy yes...
But you will be ostracized from "the community" if anything in your case can accept a "floppy disk".
You're a new member...
Do you want to become an outcast so soon?

I would go for the YE Data unit instead - they have always made higher quality stuff than Mitsumi. Available from Provantage.com et al.
. And it is NOT USB powered. There are 3 connections: standard floppy cable, usb cable, standard floppy power connection.

I have this device, and it's actually pretty cool. The card reader portion is connected via an internal USB connection (meaning your mobo needs an internal 4 pin USB header available). This does not support the floppy. It has to be connected to the PSU and also to the motherboard via the floppy cable.

Yeah, I've got two machines with this 7in1 reader installed. Works great, but you do lose 1/2 of a USB header. I had to buy a USB bracket with the split header in order to reclaim the other, unused one on each motherboard.

it's only available in white 🙁

I used 1 in a build recently, nice little unit for conserving space when they want a FDD in their system too 🙂

LED,
. Yes the YE Data uses the same connectors as the Mitsumi. FD power, FD data, internal USB header. You can adapt to an external USB connector with a cable from www.frontx.com .
. And you can also get the YE with the Adaptec name on it if you'd rather. Provantage sells both.

By internal connect I'm thinking he means another port or something that 1 USB cord plugs into...If not I stand corrected but to me an internal connector would be on the MoBo as the YE device itself has nothing to connect too by way of USB

Not that it matters much, but I got mine from MWave for about 27 shipped, which is a few dollars less than the one you linked to. Either way, you should be okay. I have used newegg and mwave for awhile, and I trust them, but have some friends that by from monarch as well, so it's your decision.

is the drive plug and play or do you have to install drivers?
