Ok, I jumped on a great deal on Figifilm CDR's at Best Buy last week. One problem... My Mitsumi 24x (4809TE) CDRW won't burn Fugifilm Taiyo Yudens (rated 16X and 24X) with CloneCD. I get an error "writing to CD failed, Medium ERROR: Power Calibration AREA ERROR" with each attempt. I have tried various blanks from each of two spindles with no success. However, I can use NTI's burning software to make a data CD burning at 4x with some success. Theoretically, the media should not present problems as TY's are among the recommended types by Mitsumi ("TDK, Kodak, and Taiyo Yuden").
Lastly, I have had no problems using cheaper media, K-Hypermedia (CMC), at their rated speed.
Anyone have similar issues using Taiyo Yudens in Mitsumi CDRW's? Should I suspect a problem with the drive or accept this as a limitation? Sure, I could just keep using the cheaper media, but I want to know if this is an issue worth pursuing with Mitsumi... Thanks in advance for help...
