Mitsubishi Recalls Cars, Admits It Hid Defects
Sales Dropped Nearly 60 Percent In May
TOKYO -- Mitsubishi Motors is recalling more than 116,000 vehicles one day after admitting it hid defects from authorities to avoid such recalls.
Thursday's recall is for defective rear and front turn-signal systems, an axle shaft and other defective parts. It covers 10 models made from 1996 through 2004.
The company says there were no accidents involving the defects.
The struggling Japanese automaker also said there may be more recalls. Executives expect sales in coming months to fare worse than the nearly 60 percent plunge reported in May.
