Linkage * I had a weird checkout bug in Firefox 2.0.0.5 that made it disappear, you may want to check out in IE7

Special price is $849, then enter the code "SAVE50" when you check out. Free shipping applies to all in-stock projectors under $999. No tax in my state either (Connecticut). This is a really great projector. Some specs:

1500 Lumens
2500:1 Contrast
720p Native (1280x720)
Component, HDMI, S-video, Composite (VGA via Component)
12V Screen Trigger
40 - 275" diagonal image size (56 - 398" throw)
MSRP on lamp is $395 USD (3000 hours on low mode)

List of reviews

If you need a screen, check out Hammer Imports. Shipping is pricey but it typically comes out to less than other places. They have fixed, manual, electric, tripod, and portable screens. The recommendations I've read for screen color are white screens for gaming and grey screens for movies, so get the color for which you do the most of.

Screen size/throw calculator

This would be a great projector to hook up to the new $299 Tivo HD, a $599 PS3 (with 5 Free Blu-ray movies), or an Xbox 360 ($179 HD-DVD drive with 5 Free HD-DVD movies; price drop on the console may happen in mid-August).

Mine showed up today. Very, very lightweight. No case (my Optoma EzPro745 had a nice zipper case). Fired it up with Xbox Media Center @ 720p. Wow!!! The upscaling is great for regular DVD movies. Picture quality is pretty nice out of the box but I will definitely be tweaking it ASAP. Biggest con so far, the noise is kinda loud. Not something you'd want to have on a coffee table during quiet scenes in the movie. It's not horrible, but it's far louder than my Optoma EzPro745. The throw is incredible too. I took it wall to wall, about 20 feet, and got a 135" screen. That's just over 11 feet, folks. And the picture was still crystal clear! The calculator says it can do a max of 149" at 21.8' or over 12 feet diagonally...I need a bigger place lol.

If you've never really looked into projectors this may not seem like such a hot deal but it really is. This projector is AMAZING! My friend was in the market for one a couple months ago and I did a lot of research on the best bang for the buck and found this to be it. At it's current retail price of $999 it's still a better deal than just about anything out there. I've previously seen it for $849 shipped, but never at $800! This is an incredible deal on a fantastic projector. My friend has a 360 elite and a hd dvr that are both hooked up with hdmi(through a switch, the projector only has 1 hdmi input) and both sources look great. Don't pass this up! If you don't want to take my word for it, read all the reviews that are out there!

This projector was the best $850 investment I've made to date. If you want the theater experience at home, this is your projector. The night I brought this thing home I had my neighbors over for a preview...needless to say, I host every movie night and sporting event at my place. Run! don't walk to this hot deal! Not sure what the OP is talking about with the noise factor, mine is whisper quiet. Go, move faster, add to cart and bring the experience home!!!

How does this compare to the Optoma HD70. The Optoma does have lower lumens, but a higher contrast ratio...

Of course any 720P projector under $1K is awesome! I paid more than this for my 480P 18 months ago...

Got mine for $850 shipped in March and I'm still in shock every time I turn it on. Wii Sports on a 100" 16:9 screen = unreal!

Noise is compared to my old one. Plus my room isn't that big ;)

It's a great PJ for sure at a good price but realize that this will be another $50 less in a month or so after CEDIA and all the newest machines are out...

From what i researched, the mitsu is a bit sharper and brighter. The opto has deeper blacks, but ppl noted its not as detailed as the mitsu. I think other factors like the offset and the throw distance might sway you one way or ther other...

I use mine for everything. Although I do have to say that standard def TV looks awful when blown up to 106"...HD on the otherhand is just jaw dropping! I watch standard def programming on my 50"...still looks like a$$ there too!

I reserve mine for movies only and at night. I don't have much light control in the family room so during the daylight hours, the image is pretty washed out (like all PJs).

How is this projector for a more 'casual' user? Basically I'd just bring it out to watch a movie from my PC at night. No component or HD signal, just vga/dvi to my pc.
Would something like this be overkill for me?

How would this looked hooked up to a PC?

I want to be able to game (Oblivion and CS mostly) and also play movies

Would it look alright if I sat back far enough?

Im not exactly sure of how to explain it, but do you think it would look like crap hooked up to a PC?

I've had this projector for about 8 months, and I must say it still rocks. I will upgrade to a 1080P unit after they get a little brighter / faster but this one is nicer than my optoma HD70 ever was.

Good price OP.

I decided to order it. Entered credit card info and tried placing the order, only to get a "You've caught us in the middle of a technology upgrade." So it says to call in to place the order or try again later. Their offices are closed on Sunday so calling in wont work, and today is the last day of the sale. I'll try again later tonight. Bad luck on my part though :(
