Mitsubishi 930SB owners - do you have this problem?

I just received my new monitor today and something seems fishy. Windows contuously wants to install the Plug and Play driver over thelatest drivers from the Mitsubishi website. Even when I point the New Hardware installation to the folder containing the driver, XP still thinks theP and P is better. I've forced XP to use the downloaded device driver, but I don't think this is working because when I try to install the Navistat software, it won't recognize the monitor.

I'm thinking the monitor is defective. This is occuring on 2 machines using XP, but containing 2 different video cards (gefore4 ti4200 and Gefore2 GTS).

Did anyone else have touble installing the drivers?

Lastly - is your screen all out of whack when you boot the PC? I've adjusted the screen in XP, but when I boot or play a game (UT2003), the screen is off center.

I had no problem. Why dont you remove the monitor in device manager and reboot and try again to insatall the .inf. I assume you dl the correct driver which is mdpr930.zip. When you install naviset it will install a different generic .inf file for some reason. I changed back to the mdpr930 driver after I installed naviset. If you still dont get it going go to http://www.necmitsubishi.com/support/main.cfm?thePage=http://www.necmitsubishi.com/support/css/intro.cfm&CFID=2215082&CFTOKEN=51931816 and they have online tech chat which can probably point you in the right direction. Look down the page on the left. I suspect you have a phantom driver conflicting. Go into safemode and open device manager and see if you have multiple monitors installed, if so remove them. Very nice monitor. I do not think its the monitor. I think you are not doing it correctly imho.

Thanks for the reply Bucksnort.

I went ahead and tried their online tech chat. It wasn't too helpful and she kept trying to suggest that the cause was thatmy video card was not DDC compliant (which from what I can tell it is). When I get home this evening, I'll take a look at the "phantom driver" issue and see if that's the problem. I'm surprised she didn't suggest this (once again, AT prevails in tech support!). I finally called up the tech support line and the tech couldn't have cared less about the problem. She started to fill out a case report claimingthe monitor was DOA. I guess it's easier to send out a new monitor than troubleshoot the problem.

Just to clarify, when you downloaded the driver and specified the location in the hardware update wizard, Windows would accept it over the P and P driver, right? For me, I had to select "let me choose a driver to install" or else XP would not install the 930SB driver.

If the things earlier dont work I would try tech again. There always are a few that dont know anything. Better this way for the .inf: first check for the phantom drivers esp monitor then go to update driver after you unzip the monitor driver; choose install from a list; dont search I will choose; uncheck show compatable hardware; clik on nec\mitsubishi; clik have disk and point to the folder where the unzipped .inf is and clik ok. I sent you a private message Tiger, good luck. PS, the monitor is not DOA of course. Dont send it back, we will fix u up.
Lastly - is your screen all out of whack when you boot the PC? I've adjusted the screen in XP, but when I boot or play a game (UT2003), the screen is off center. Its just not set up correctly yet. It will work after we get these things straightened out. If your nvidia control panel has the monitor adjustements in it then the card is ddc compliant. Im sure the gf4 is but not sure bout the other one.

Sorry to dig up this thread but..

My two week old 930SB just started having this problem. It worked perfectly until today when it started to go black/reset/degause when i tried to access videos or the display settings. Now naviset wont reconize it as DCC and windows keeps installing plug and play drivers for it. Winxp wont reconize it as a 930sb (it wont take the .inf), the monitor works but the screen slightly off now despite adjustments.

I bought it from gateway and they wont rma it after 15 days..., so i have contacted nec but havent gotten a reply. Growltiger, did you come to any solution for this? or can anyone help me. Thanks.

Also, when i play a game that uses another resolution, the screen gets pretty warped. I would probably have to get a replacement, but shipping this beast must cost quite a bit :/

Growltiger rma'd his monitor and a new one worked properly. I believe NEC calls a monitor doa if its in the first 30 days so I would get hold of them immediately so you dont have any shipping charges hopefully. There is a live tech support chat on their site also. Either use that or call them, dont email.
