Stochastic terrorism, this is a signal to the unstable supporters to go after democratic politicians
Third use of "Stochastic terrorism" I've seen this week. I think this one is going to be big, it's going to make into the debates at some point in the near future. I'm looking at Harris for the first use, then expect CNN to run with it.

I'm getting a feeling that you actually have more of a problem with people naming the thing rather than with the actual thing. Any reason for that?

It was like when people called the concentration camps concentration camps.

The word stochastic is a broader meaning than is being used in the context of "stochastic terrorism" and using the word in this manner leads to confusion. Contrary to Greenman's speculation, I don't expect the term to come up in a debate. Having a candidate attempt to explain the concept would be entertaining though.

A stochastic process has an underlying distribution determined by environmental variables, many of which are also functionally stochastic. What the fascists are doing is manipulating some of the environmental variables (information inputs in this case) to create a bigger tail in the violence-prone end of the distribution. Having a candidate try to articulate that any better than I just did would be really difficult.

He feels like it's okay, so the actual definitions don't matter.

Gee, I wonder what those tombstones mean, he wouldn't be encouraging violence against other people, right? That would certainly be something the Senate majority leader would never ever ever do. Just like the president, lol....morons.

The technique is probably as old as mass media. I'm sure it played prominently in the beatings, lynching & burnings of the Jim Crow era. The term dates back to at least 2011 when it was used to describe right wing luminaries lesser than Trump-

You skip all the statistics and instead explain that it is putting the idea out there of killing certain people or types of people. For most people this is not a problem, they take it as metaphor and never think too much about it, but for the most extreme of his followers they see it as evidence that the person they follow is giving them permission to commit violence against those people. For some of them that implied permission is all they need. for them is the last two pieces of the puzzle, it gives them both a target and a action to take against that target. This leads to more violence then would otherwise happen.

Amazing how MoscowBitch takes pride in being a massive obstructionist when he has constantly complained about Democrats obstructing. It's like he isn't honest or something.
