Okay, So I just got my new 2gb of corsair ram. My motherboard is a MSI K9N Neo. Motherboard link My first two sticks of ram are Corsair 240 pin DDR2 800, XMS2-6400 1024mb 5.5.5.12. They are in the first two ram slots which were color coded oppositely but still, it worked.
Then I decided to upgrade and got 2 more single gig sticks of corsair 240 pin DDR2 800, XMS2-6400, 1024mb, and the only difference is the new two are 5.5.5.18 and have a DHX heat transfer thing but that is just the added physical heastink i believe. Now I've tried multiple arrangements and it went from not loading windows to once when it loaded, all worked but said I only had 3.25 gb of memory??
So right now I have in the two new sticks only and it's working perfectly with good readings. They just mess up when they are with the two older sticks also.
My motherboard says it takes up to 4gb but it mentioned dual ddr2 sticks. I can't imagine the dual means only 2 memory sticks when there are 4 slots??
My only other thought is that the last timing between the new and old ones are off by 6. would that cause it? and if so could I change one of them up or down and not hurt it?
Thanks
(If you need more info let me know)
