if someone paid me tens of millions of dollars and gave me a support crew i would totally do that.

I honestly do not think I could physically even do that. I have a feeling my body would just shut down from fear. :D

KT

I'm with KT here. The bricks I would be shitting would prevent me from making it up the ladder.

And then to take your hands/legs off all physical support and smile at the camera? FTS.

Even if someone gave me a support crew, I'd probably be crying once I get to the top and be yelling for someone to save me.

I didn't know people didn't know he was really doing that stuff. I could've swore I saw something (maybe on Cracked?) months ago about the plane stunt specifically, and there was tons of press about climbing the building.

Personally I think the Mission Impossible movies are pretty meh. There's impressive parts to them (usually Cruise's stunts) but the rest is often mediocre. First one was ok, the second one just got too silly, 3 was fairly enjoyable (I think it might be my favorite). The one with Jeremy Renner I thought was just plain bad like Michael Bay level of bad (other than the stunts), and so I kinda don't really care any more (isn't Renner supposed to take over?). But then the odd number ones I think have been much better than the even ones.

I'd guess it is very likely that the makeup of his brain means he just plain does not get the feelings that a lot of people would in the same situation. It's less balls and more just that he doesn't have to deal with the same level of stress/fear so he can focus on the physical part. Likewise, with all of the stuff he's done he's actually prepared himself (and his body) for that stress. That's not to say it isn't impressive, but there's reasons why it isn't quite as crazy as it seems.

Funny how differently people are wired. I'm not super afraid of heights (I go up the Space Needle no problem), but there's not a way in hell I'd even get out the door there before I'd probably vomit all over myself. Money or not, my body literally would be like "eff you, buddy".

Saw this a couple of nights ago. It was fantastic. The opening/airplane scene wasn't even the best action sequence of the movie.
It's the complete opposite of the shaky cam .25 second cuts.

Clear, visceral and tense.

Did you notice anything else about this movie?
How about the non use of any curse words?
How about no nudity or even partial nudity?
How about no sex scenes?
How about no implied sex?
How about no gore?
I'm surprised it wasn't rated 'G'.

I'm not a prude, but all of those listed aren't necessary for a good film.

There is a partial nudity sense if that change anything

wtf were you also listening to 106.7 the fan this morning on the way in to work? they talked about both of those scenes from both movies and that is how i found out that he really did the stunt on the plane too. i knew about the one in part 4 though, but not that he fired his insurance company until i heard it on the radio this morning.

I learned about this fact during a BMW sponsored commercial on a cable network show a week or so ago, can't remember which one though, possibly the USA Network?
