All right! The night was a huge success with lots of happy parents and teens.

For the most part the photos came out very well. Learned a lot along the way too, only second time with these flashes.

Here are samples with my comments:
#1 one of the early photos of the night

#2 later in the night I switched to just one flash. Using the shot through umbrella raised all the way to the ceiling and me standing under it. Worked wonders.

#3 similar set up, might need a little better post editing.

#4 using the two light set up. Had a real hard time taking the group photos with this set up since the ends are very lit up and the middle is darker.

#5 Same set up, same problem. Parents love this photo though, but could use some more post op work I think

#6 Finally, the girls! :) using just the shot through with me standing on a chair trying to get the 'glamor' pose by having them look up at me. Worked pretty good too. Another shot that the parents love, just wish I could have gotten them set up a little more balanced so my niece on the left wouldn't look like an add on.

Took pics of the parents too after the girls had left for their dance.
Was really a lot of fun and I learned a TON.

Will have to bug niece and friends in to more modeling so I can keep working on my skills.

I think I am going to get another shot through umbrella. They aren't much $$ and I think two of them would have worked wonders on the larger group shots.

Nice work! Watch that white balance though...varies hugely through the set. Try to take people away from busy backgrounds, or at least separate them with large apertures. #2 does this nicely.

You are right. I need to work with the light system more and get better with aperture too.

Probably should have locked the aperture at 2.8 or so and went from there.

Stuff for me to work on.

I think that is a post op problem.

#4 & #5 are the same light settings. Just moved the group around, they ended up closer to the light and camera and that might have been my problem.

We did this in a family room and there was only so much room. When I get my house my 20x20 converted garage will make a MUCH better studio than a 14x16 family room.

Have you ever noticed when looking at pics from someone else's school, that everybody kinda looks the same?
Is there a sociological or psychological reason for that?

I think you did a good job. Few issues with hot spots, but you'll figure it out over time. I'm sure the kiddies are very happy with their photos.

Keep us updated as you do more work with the lights! (I'm a strobist, myself.)

nice. They have "pop" to them. In the other thread, some of them looked flat. These are pretty decent.
