I recently wiped my computer clean and put on windows xp sp2 home edition. It was missing a lot of drivers, I fixed most of them besides the modem... It says it's missing the pci simple communications controller?

any tips?

Sounds like you just need to find drivers for your modem. If it's a dial-up you can install standard 56k drivers from the Windows cd otherwise you need to find out the make and model of your modem. I take it you don't have a modem installation disk?

The missing drivers may be on your drive. If you know the names of the files, search for them, and, if you know where Windows is expecting to find them, you can move copy them to the right folder.

If the modem is integrated with the motherboard get drivers from whoever made the board. If it's a card get them from the card manufacturers site. If you don't know the make or model of either you can use SiSoftware Sandra to tell you.

You forgot to include much info on your computer :>

is this a home built or store bought PC? (ie Dell, Compaq, etc)
Did you restore from a original hologram XP HOme CD, or a 'Compaq' or 'Dell' OS CD?

tthis should be the second post and not a diagnose of the problem. If its a Dell theres a Express TAG ID that u can just punch in at dells support page and tons of drivers will come out as results. If its a HP you need to goto HP.com and find the make and model of your desktop and get the drivers off there.
